Chapters 1&2

In the beginning there is interesting detail of a place that has four children in it. We get introduced to the four kids: Gawaine, Gareth, Gaheris, and Agravaine. Gawaine tells a story of how their grandmother was taken by the king of England named King Pendragon. Morgause is the mother of the four boys and she wants to become invisible so she boils a black cat then starts to go through the bones. She tries and gets bored so she chucks the bones out. So we find out Morgause and her 3 sisters are witches. Arthur talks about how he thought killing and his battle was fun. This makes Merlyn mad because before in his lessons he said something along the lines of killing for fun or and interest is wrong. He gets upset and tells Arthur how King Pendragon made chivalry so much different' and makes Arthur think.

Chapters 3&4

Arthur gets history about Morgause and the difference between Galls and Gaels. Merlyn tells him there are different reasons for war and not just on in particular. He learns about past races and the differences that they all have. He learns about why certain races like or don't like his race. Merlyn tells Arthur war is the worst thing and there is no reason to go to war. Merlyn thinks aggression has a lot of reason for violence and is trying to explain this to Arthur. Merlyn then explains that the poor helpless people are the ones who will die and pay during a war and people need to take it more seriously.

Chapters 5&6

Morgause's for sons go to here a story at Mother Morlans. There they meet St. Toirdealbhach. They talk about war and the St. kick them out. The boys decide to take two donkeys they see and whip and beat them. Sir Grummore, King Pellinore, and Sir Palomides are the three knights who enter. The Orkeny people do nothing but stared at them. King Arthur walks up 208 stairs to get Merlyn and he didn't summon for him so Merlyn makes him leave. King Arthur wants to learn more about chivalry. Arthur thinks that by winning two battles he can change how chivalry and make life better.

Chapters 7&8

King Pellinore fell in love with the Queen of Flanders. The boys talk about their mother being virgin bate when she asked the knights to hunt a unicorn. They go to the saint again to hear a story about a witch who had a daughter and her husband left her. The boys decide to try to find a unicorn for their mom. They use meg a maiden and once the unicorn gets close to meg then Agravaine kills the unicorn. The boys didn't have that planned so they try to figure out what to do with the unicorn. They bring it to their mom and she doesn't believe them. After their mom finds out she beats them. There are tents that are described for the knights to stay in. King Arthur wants to fit 150 knights around a table and Merlyn tries to figure out how. Arthur wants to make a round table and is told by Merlyn, that he will marry Guenever. They want to have a feast and then Kay tells Merlyn that he had a good idea of why a war should start.

Chapters 9&10

King Pellinoe is sad because the questing beast is in Flanaders. So Palomides and Grummore think it would be nice to dress up as the questing beast. The Queen is fed up with the knights. King Lot has way more men then King Arthur and Merlyn. Arthur gets worried and Merlyn says they will win. Merlyn asks Arthur if he remembers the magic and what he was taught when he was little. He then wants to say something important to Arthur but cannot remember so he wants to take a break. Merlyn tells him Once and Future king shall be written on his tombstone in case he forgot.

Chapters 11&12

The friends of Pellinore would like to kill the beast, but Pellinore refuses to let them he wants them to let her be because she is in love. The beast bit Pellinore because she wanted to chase after her love. They become safe behind the castle walls. The knights get accepted. Pellinore and the Queen of Flanders want to get married. Also the Saint and mother Morlan want to get married. The battle is soon to happen and Arthur is serious about it. He realizes he is out numbered and decides maybe attacking at night is the best possible way. Lot knows his army is bigger and trys to plan on only making half of them fight . Arthur had two french kings to watch Lot from the bushes and they helped him win the battle.

Chapters 13&14

Merlyn can't remember more things and he insists he must leave. Sir Palomides and Sir Grummore don't know what to do about the questing beast because she wont leave the castle. They ask Merlyn for advice and he basicly says talk ot her and try to make her understand. They psychoanalyze the beast and she now loves Sir Palomides. The wedding happens and Arthur and Morgause with her four sons go as do a lot of other people. Merlyn tells Arthur the name of his mother. Then brings a Spancel to make Arthur love her. It works and they are half brother and sister, who end up having a son named Mordred.

Reflection

I think that Morgause has four sons who are all unique and have a strength and a weakness they share as a group of brothers. What I think is interesting is that the way Merlyn thinks of war because most people don't think about it so serious and how little stupid reasons make people fight and kill. I thought it was nice of Pellinore not to let his friends kill the poor questing beast and that it was interesting she moved on to Sir Palomides. I think that the spancel was very good idea for Morgause to get what she wants and i believe a lot of people would do the same thing.
